Our K9 teams are held to rigorous training and certification standards to ensure they are prepared to serve safely, effectively, and professionally.
Before becoming search eligible, each K-9 must:
- Earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title, which demonstrates sound temperament and good manners.
- Successfully complete the Team Obedience Skills Inventory, which evaluates the dog’s ability to work reliably with its handler in a variety of environments and situations.
- Meet all monthly and annual training requirements.
- Successfully complete certification standards specific to their discipline before being deployed on any search mission.
Our handlers and K9s train weekly with the team to maintain our high standards, on top of regular one-on-one training with their K-9. Ongoing education, scenario-based exercises, and recertification requirements help ensure that every team remains ready and capable.
