Human Remains Detection

Human Remains Detection (HRD) K9s are trained to detect and alert on the scent of human decomposition. Also known as cadaver dogs, these highly trained K9s are able to detect human remains, even decades old, in various conditions.

Water Recovery

Human Remains Detection (HRD) K9 teams trained to work from boats or along shorelines to recover bodies in water.

K9s detect and alert on the scent of decomposition gasses that rise to the surface of the water.

Mantrailing

Mantrailing dogs are trained to follow an individual person’s scent using skin rafts (shed skin cells). Mantrailing dogs use a scent article (pillow case, dirty clothes, etc.) from the missing individual in order to determine their specific scent. We have K9s certified in both wilderness and urban mantrailing.

Area Search

Live area search K-9s are trained to find people by detecting human scent carried by the wind. Instead of following footprints or a track on the ground, these dogs search large areas and use air movement to locate the source of the scent.

Mapping

Mapping and tracking our searches provides greater transparency into search activity and areas, strengthens our reporting capabilities, and helps us refine search strategies.
